Haakon Rønn Stensæth assists clients on matters within EU/EEA law, competition law, state aid and public procurement.
Haakon’s expertise covers competition and state aid law, after having worked at the Norwegian Competition Authority and at the Competition and State Aid Directorate at the EFTA Surveillance Authority in Brussels.
At Simonsen Vogt Wiig he works with merger filings vis-à-vis the Norwegian Competition Authority and the European Commission, as well as cartel and abuse of dominance assessments. Haakon has significant experience in assessing state aid cases. He has worked on competition and state aid law matters within a range of sectors, including the groceries sector, telecom, oil and gas, and public education and health services.
Haakon earned his degree at the University of Oslo. He also has taken courses in economics at the University of Bergen, including competition economics/industry organisation. During an exchange semester in Berlin he took several courses within EU law in German. In 2018, he won the EFTA Surveillance Authority EEA Moot Court Competition in EEA Law.
