Nikolai Brøvig is an experienced petroleum law practitioner

Nikolai has through his career worked extensively on regulatory issues relating to the Oil & Gas industry. From his work for the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, Nikolai’s experience includes drafting legislation, monitoring and enforcing the Norwegian regulatory framework to the industry, gaining detailed knowledge on resource management, HSE and environmental issues seen from regulatory authority perspective.

For Simonsen Vogt Wiig Nikolai also advises Norwegian and foreign clients on a wide range of petroleum regulatory and contractual issues on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, hereunder transaction of participating interests, interpretation of the legal framework, including license terms and inter licensee agreements, unitization issues and development projects as well as more general business law related issues.

Nikolai has also been extensively involved in projects relating to development of petroleum legal frameworks and capacity building of foreign government authorities. The work performed for a number of countries include continuous consultancy on resource management strategies and drafting of laws and regulations in addition to drafting of model contracts such as JOAs, Unitization Agreements, PSAs etc.

He has also been involved in a number of projects and advisory services relating to energy and environmental law, corporate law and property law, hereunder a wide variety of contractual issues, both for Norwegian and international clients. He has developed great skills relating to consultancy on regulatory compliance within various industries, hereunder legal opinions. Nikolai advises public sector, private business and personal clients.
