The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has issued its long-awaited guidance following the Court of Justice of the European Union's (CJEU) landmark Schrems II decision. The comprehensive guidance, open for public consultation until 21 December, outlines how organizations should approach international transfers.

Watch the webinar here:

The guidance consists of two parts. Part one, «Recommendations on measures that supplement transfer tools to ensure compliance with the EU level of protection of personal data», explains 6 practical steps companies need to go through to verify compliance with the GDPR in light of the Schrems II decision. Part two, «Recommendations on the European Essential Guarantees for surveillance measures», provides guidance on how to assess third country national security and law enforcement surveillance measures.

In this webinar our privacy experts will discuss the EDPB recommendations, including:

– Explanation of the 6 steps required to verify compliance
– Discussion of situations where supplementary measures would make the transfers lawful, and situations where there are no supplementary measures to make the transfers lawful
– How to carry out third country assessments in practice
– Practical steps to take going forward

The webinar will also discuss the draft EU Standard Contractual Clauses published by the EU Commission 12 November which are open for public consultation until 10 December.
