| Firm News

Chambers and Partners published their FinTech 2021 Legal Guide to Norway today, and we are very proud to share that Simonsen Vogt Wiig is still the only top-ranked law firm in Norway.

In the guide, Chambers notes:

Their response is always very fast and exactly to the point. They address my needs perfectly. Simonsen are the heavyweight in the Norwegian market – the strongest local firm.

Our partners Espen Tøndel and Morten Winther defends their individual Band 1 rankings, and are the only Norwegian lawyers with a top ranking in the 2021 guide. The individual reviews states:

Espen Tøndel has a wealth of experience in negotiating large procurement transactions in the technology ecosystem. He also has significant expertise within mobile payments, where he acts for established players and startups entering the Norwegian payments sector. Sources say that Tøndel is «a really strong tech lawyer with a strong network. He’s on the board of a few fintech companies. He’s really keyed in to the space and has a crystal-clear understanding of the issues surrounding the underlying technology.»

Morten Wilhelm Winther is widely recognised for his expertise in financial regulatory law. He has extensive experience advising clients in respect of the regulatory implications of PSD2. One impressed interviewee reports: «He has a passion for the financial sector and has great expertise in the space. He is very sincere and cares about the client – he’s not just trying to bill you.»

– We are grateful for this recognition of our efforts and I am very proud of our Fintech team, Managing partner Mona Søyland says.

Chambers FinTech Guide was published for the first time in 2018, and the 2021 edition covers a total of 40 jurisdictions including Norway.
