Sustainable Development Goals

Simonsen Vogt Wiig supports UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Fighting inequality and climate changes doesn’t happen by accident. In order to contribute reaching UN’s sustainable development goals, we in Simonsen Vogt Wiig have made sustainability and corporate social responsibility one of our main strategic priorities.

We have had an internal process to identify which of the 17 goals we will have a particular focus on in our organization. In 2021 we have established project groups that will focus on finding specific measures for each of our chosen goals.

Goal 5: Gender equality

SVW believes that the best advice will come from a team with a diverse background and composition. We therefore focus on attracting, developing, and retaining profiles of different backgrounds and experiences, with balance between genders.

We strive for our employees to have a flexible workday and be able to have a good work life balance on all levels.

Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production

SVW was certified Eco-Lighthouse in 2009. This means that we have met certain requirements regarding environmentally friendly operations and a good working environment. Eco-Lighthouse is Norway’s most widely used certification scheme for enterprises seeking to document their environmental efforts and demonstrate social responsibility.

SVW is climate neutral and compensate for our emission through the purchase of climate quotas. In addition, we implement local initiatives at our offices, such as waste reduction and sorting, access to bicycles, facilitating digital meetings, and avoiding unnecessary travel. In the fall of 2022, we also arranged an internal activity campaign where SVW employees across the country competed against each other with the aim of promoting a more sustainable and active lifestyle.

Goal 13: Climate action

SVW want to contribute to stopping climate changes through specific guidelines, raising consciousness within the organization as to what we as individuals may contribute with as well as general reminders of our common responsibility.

Being an Eco-Lighthouse provide us with a good foundation to contribute to several of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. By purchasing climate quotas via CEMAsys.com (voluntary climate quotas) we support among others a project in India. This climate and water project underpins many of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals with health, water, combating poverty in addition to the climate effect.

Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions

SVW wish to contribute to a sustainable development both locally, nationally, and internationally. With law as our core competence it is natural for us to make use of this experience for influencing and contributing with reaching the superior objectives.

We focus on money laundering and encourage our employees to actively participate in committees and organizations. Many of our lawyers offer their expertise to individuals and organizations on a pro bono basis.

SVW has been a longtime supporter of Amnesty International for several years. In 2023, the agreement was renewed to involve a broader collaboration that includes both financial support and a professional component involving legal research.
