EU is now ready to adopt the 16th sanction package against Russia, and it is anticipated to be adopted already on 21 February 2025.

The new sanctions are expected to inter alia include:

  • Broadening of blacklisting of vessels in the shadow fleet of about 75 vessels
  • Ban on imports of Russian primary aluminium

Needless to say, although of vital importance, players in the shipping industry must act with the highest level of caution in its trading and transactions going forward.
